We are back with Survivor test footage, this was a piece that we set up in an abandoned warehouse district in Portsmouth. The atmosphere is pretty good and the first person perspective gives it a feel unlike any modern movie today.

When I visited Alcatraz in mid 2009 I took the opportunity to hop on one of the tours available.

The tour comprises of a boat trip to the island and then an in depth look around the prison. Complete with audio guide which tells you all about the cells, what happened during the battle of Alcatraz. It even goes on to speculate as to how the supposed escapees may have survived during the only known break out from the prison!

To top it off I went in the cell that Al Capone lived in when he was incarcerated there. It's deffo work a look if you ever get a chance to go.

Survivor post filming notes

What promised to be an easy shoot was dogged with eerie happenings. At times the shooting of the movie gave us genuine concerns for our lives. Unexplained goings on and the premature death of one of the grips lead to postponement of filming for 3 months whilst an (unrelated to the film) police investigation was conducted.

To top it off several injuries happened during filming. The director got his wrist broken when one of the stuntmen jumped on his hand during a take. One of the stuntmen fell down a hole and had to be taken to hospital. One of the extras got attacked by a wild dog when out in an abandoned district. Really filming was a total calamity.
